It delivers the same power-to-weight ratio as the MS 362, but adds STIHL M-Tronic, a microprocessor-controlled engine management system that automatically adjusts performance for temperature, elevation, fuel quality, and air filter condition—ensuring consistent cutting power in all situations.

It includes an anti-vibration system for more comfortable operation and a side-access chain tensioner for easy chain adjustments using a bar wrench. The pre-separation air filtration system reduces dirt reaching the filter, resulting in fewer cleanings and less maintenance. A decompression valve makes starting easier by reducing compression before ignition. The saw also features low exhaust emissions.
