• STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive STIHL feature with a built-in shock absorber that reduces effort when pulling the starter cord. It smooths out the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking, making starting easier and more comfortable.
• IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
This system automatically adjusts the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or clogged, maintaining correct engine RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses clean air from the filter’s clean side to control the fuel flow. As the filter gets dirty and airflow decreases, IntelliCarb™ compensates to keep performance steady—unlike typical carburetors that use air from the dirty side of the filter.
• Decompression Valve
Also known as a “deco valve,” it temporarily reduces compression in the cylinder during cranking. This makes pulling the starter rope easier. The valve is opened manually and automatically closes once the engine fires.
• Pre-Separation Air Filtration System
This technology improves air filter efficiency, doubling the time between cleanings. Incoming air is spun by centrifugal force, ejecting heavier dirt particles before they reach the filter. As a result, the air filter traps less dirt, reducing maintenance needs.
